Hahahaha, it's no lie that my dream is one day to make an animated series based on Malaysian folklore. Even though the stories of Hang Tuah has become quite boring to some over the years, it's still one of the best folklore that we have in my opinion. Hehe, it'd be nice to make all the stories mix with each other. Then everyone can make appearances a-la Justice League Unlimited XD
It's too bad everyone here keeps on making dumb kid shows. Ugh, and people wonder why most of the talents here go overseas to look for jobs...Although, my hopes are still up for the animation industry here~ I know of 2 studios that have very amazing people working for them now ^_^
So, these are the sketches that I did of my version to this famous Malaysian folklore.
Tuah's design was based on a painting that I did. Just changed his color scheme a bit.
Since Teja can kick-ass as good as the other guys, I made her a bit boyish (although, that was really an accident...).
Jebat is supposed to be bigger than Tuah simply because I though it'd be a nice contrast with Tuah's design.

I also had a dream like you, I even had a short flash animation that I've did for my assignment in college. It's about a new successor of Taming Sari. It's a new version of my crazy idea & alot of changes from the real folklore.
For your information, my assignment has been assed by people from the studio that did a Putih Animation Movie. It didn't go well because my animation is to abstract... Well, not many movements but I had put a lot of effort to do it. I've been influenced by Japanese Anime that time... whatever.

Yo Clouz! It's cool that you did the flash animation :D At least you've taken a step to achieving your goal! I think Eurofine is was the company who did Putih. Congrats! ^O^
I can see the Japanese influence (hey, my art is also influenced by Japan!). She looks kinda Card Captor Sakura-ish (I like~) and the title design looks fine man :D Maybe you should rework & refine or make new possible animations~ :D

Well, that work actually quite old already (almost 2 years) & my skills has been blunt +_+. I don't really draw comics nowadays coz I'm concentrated on Graphic Design now.

I can't draw for crap! Dammit. You remember that thing I drew that was supposed to be a tree, but you saw an angel instead? *laughs* Even Ho also thought it looked like an angel. How depressing... Everybody else in the family can draw!!!

Actually right, Aimo or Eisu are also doing something your Knights of Melaka. I came upon it sometime back last year. Maybe you should go ask them about it if you really want to. Then maybe you guys can collaborate together or something to create a short anime about it. :p
